What is TARA?
TARA is an acronym for Tiffany, Allison, Rosa, and Arboles. The TARA Historical Society is a private organization formed in 1992, receiving non-profit status in 1997. The acronym was chosen out of respect for the area history being preserved. The organization, with the help of the community, has since built a community center, providing many resources to the community. It still preserves area history to this day in display cases and archives of records and documents, while bringing people together and serving the community. It has become a dynamic multi-use space with a library, thrift store, kitchen and banquet hall, playground, basketball court, and more. The indoor and outdoor facilities are available for rent and shared with the public, offering educational opportunities, classes, events, and a great many helpful resources to area residents. It is often called TARA Center for short.
