TARA has been collecting history from its inception in 1992. There are
posters depicting the activities from the beginning of the Tiffany, Allison, Rosa
and Arboles era, which include farming, sheep herding, railroad, and home
steading. There is a video with many pictures collected to date and a display case
which houses artifacts of the area. Some have been gifted and others are on
loan, all for community and visitors to see. We have collected books written
about the area, which the History Department has for sale if anyone is interested
in buying one. They are also available for you to view when you visit the center.
The TARA History is housed in the lower level of the TARA Building, which is open
Wednesday and Saturday mornings 9:30 to 12:30. It can also be viewed by
request or when TARA has events at the center.
We have had committees in the past and would like to begin anew for
anyone who has history and or artifacts to share. Please call Norma at 970-749-
7530 if you are interested in serving on this committee or have anything to add.
Norma has volunteered to head up the History Committee and would like to see
displays for the original homesteaders in our area. If you or a family member is
interested in putting this together, please let Norma know. 970-749-7530. Thank
you.
