What is TARA?

TARA is an acronym for Tiffany, Allison, Rosa, and Arboles. These are the 4 communities most impacted by the Navajo Dam/ Lake project of the late 50's/early 60's.

The original towns of Tiffany and Allison remain at their original locations. The town of Rosa which was just over the state line in New Mexico was completely submerged. The original town of Arboles is also under water at the confluence of the San Juan and Piedra Rivers.

Fortunately, several buildings were moved and the town of Arboles, was rebuit in its present location.
